鑄鐵平板制造工藝過(guò)程包括有毛坯鑄造、基面的加工、表面的開(kāi)槽、熱處理、表面處理以有檢驗、劃線(xiàn)等多道工序。工藝規程的內容不僅僅是各加工工序的順序排列，而且應包括各道工序的加工內容，工序技術(shù)要求及與其它工序間的相互關(guān)系等，是刀具制造全過(guò)程的綜合體現。其主要內容包括以下幾個(gè)方面：
1、毛壞的選擇和確定，包括毛坯的形狀、材質(zhì)、硬度和制取方法等。
2、先擇平板（臺）表面的具體加工方法，正確擬定加工工序的內容和總體工藝流程。
3、各道工序的具體加工內容、工藝基準和工序技術(shù)要求等。
4、確定工序間的加工余量和工序尺寸。
5、各工序所需工、夾、量具的確定，根據需要設計和制造二類(lèi)工、夾、量具。
6、填寫(xiě)工藝文件。
在編制工藝規程時(shí)，應認真研究平板工作圖，要從本單位實(shí)際加工能力和技術(shù)條件出發(fā)，并吸取先進(jìn)生產(chǎn)經(jīng)驗，使所制定的工藝規程能保證平板質(zhì)量要求，并具有高的生產(chǎn)效率，以獲得最佳經(jīng)濟效益。
工藝規程的編制受多種因素的影響，其內容或繁或簡(jiǎn)，或細或粗，不能形成統一的規定。但其主要內容還是一致的，即應包括上述各項內容。在實(shí)際生產(chǎn)中，很可能出現工藝條件相同，加工對象相同的兩個(gè)不同單位所編制工的工藝規程互不相同的情況，這也是不奇怪的。只要其行之有效，能保證設計要求，就是可以的。隨著(zhù)新技術(shù)、新工藝、新材料和新設備的不斷出現，工藝規程也需不斷進(jìn)行修改和完善。
